Hope one day to own one. But in the mean time, any good games recommended for it?

Star Ranger is awesome, as well as Skyfox. Those are my two favorite. Stay away from a lot of the ports to the Commodore, tons were terrible, like Contra.

I've been having these weird thoughts lately. Like is any of this for real or not?

There are so many, that I could spend an entire night listing them. What types of games do you currently like? The C64 had such an EXTENSIVE software library.

A couple sites you'll want to try are:

C64.org
C64.com
http://arnold.c64.org/
Also check out http://remix.kwed.org and SlayRadio.org.

The Commodore 64 music scene is *very* active, and the remix community is about the size of OCremix, just dedicated to C64 remixes!

Enjoy, you're entering an *awesome* community. 🙂

My favorite was Swiss Family Robinson. It was a Text Adventure, with still onscreen graphics. It just sounds archaic by today's standards, I know. But I spent hours playing that game and figuring out what exactly I was supposed to do next as I explored the island and collected various objects.

Blue Max I remember being a pretty good isometric-ish airplane shoot-em up.

B.C.'s Quest for Tires is another I played a lot. It's a platformer/racer, I guess. You're a caveman that rides on a wheel that just keeps going (you can't stop). You navigate levels that involve jumping and ducking and dodging various pitfalls and obastacles. It was quite addicting.

The Giana Sisters is basically a Super Mario Bros. clone on the Commodore 64, and isn't bad.

The C64 version of Dig Dug is pretty good, too. Much better than the Atari 2600 version.

Great games there - never played SFR, but have played all the others. I *love* Blue Max, as well as BC's Quest for Tires. Did you know that Sierra published BC's Quest for Tires?

The C64 is a great computer and there are so many great games. I have fond memories playing The Human Race, California Games and Winter Olympics growing up with it.
