Nintendo has announced that they will be bringing back the Nintendo World Championships, 25 years after the original one back in 1990, and this time Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime will be competing.  The event will be held on June 14th, 2015 during E3 in Los Angeles.

It is not known at this point which games will be featured in the competition, but it would be likely that Wii U titles Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8 would be among them.

In a statement Nintnedo said: “Nintendo of America will host qualifying tournaments for the Nintendo World Championships, which were last seen in 1990. The winners from regional events across the USA, plus competitors invited by Nintendo of America, will meet on June 14th, at the NOKIA Theatre LA LIVE in Los Angeles for a multi-round Nintendo game competition.

“In the end, one player will be crowned the 2015 Nintendo World Champion. Fans in Los Angeles will have the opportunity to attend the tournament, while others at home in Europe can watch online.”

Nintendo will host a Nintendo Direct broadcast and live-stream events straight from the show in Los Angeles.
