This Week In Gaming News 2/11/2012

Mario Kart meets its match, Apple accused of unfair labor and upcoming Gamester81.com reviews!

It’s another week in life, yes yes… the cold sting of winter is slowly starting to fall away and the inviting warmth of the sun will soon bring us new life as we near our infamous “end of the world” mark at the end of 2012.
It’s this time that I ask myself “will I ever get to see what gaming has in store for us in the next 30 years?” and for once I can’t truly answer that; none of us really can.
Where is this all going? Nowhere, I’m just simply bringing a point that everyone…needs to play as much games as possible, before the end of the world!!!!!!

First in this weeks news is some information on some upcoming content that will be featured on Gamester81.com!
Currently I have been hard at work going through the various and beautiful variety that Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning brings and I plan on getting a full review up on the website as soon as it’s done, hopefully by the end of next week.
Also I have some various gaming hardware accessory reviews coming up, one is for the MMX 300 headset and the other is for the Nyko Intercooler for the Xbox 360 slim which turns out after a rough history. You may be shocked on how the new cooling device performed or you may be guessing that it’s another useless device.
Along with that we have a review over the Metal Gear Solid HD collection on it’s way so be sure to keep an eye out for an honest review of MGS:HD!
Along with this content, I will be working on a new show that will surely bring intrigue to the gaming universe as I uncover some of gaming’s biggest mysteries called, ” Fact Through Fiction”

Next up is the recently announced Little Big Planet Karting, which has hopes of going head to head with the Nintendo powerhouse, Mario Kart.
We can be sure that LBP:Karting will feature a heavy suite of impressive features, judging from previous games.  While it is looking to be a PSVita only title, the soon to be launched hand held has been so far very impressive in the visual department, but will it be enough to help drive sales of the already declining PSVita?
The only real news up on this is that Sony has officially confirmed that the title is in development but no other further details were given, so be sure to check back in the future for more LBP:Karting content and previews!

It would appear that things have taken a toll for the worst for the successful Apple company over the past few days.
As if the passing of the late and great, Steve Jobs wasn’t enough for everyone to handle, recent allegations have pointed the blame at Apple and it’s unfair labor laws.
Yes, you guessed it, it has to do with China.
And yes, you guessed it, it has to do with child labor.
“But Eric, child labor is funny” Right? Wrong.
Now while I fully support a child going to work for their family at a local market or what not, if they child chooses so, I do not however choose for children to be slaved out to large corporations and forced to work adult sized hours.
Worse off, Apple Inc. is now facing things much more heavier than child labor law issues, in fact they are facing abuse laws as a recent report indicated that 49 workers have been poisoned by a chemical known as, “n-hexane”.
For those of you who are wondering just what in the hell is “n-hexane” allow me to dig into the depths of my brain and think about what little I learned in college.
N-hexane or isohexane is a hydrocarbon which is a mix of alkane and 6 other forms of carbon.
They also play a significant role into the production and combustion of items like gasoline, which we all know….if you drink gas…you’re going to die and fall flat on your ass.
Apple has seemed to have a policy in China that follows under the guidelines of “don’t ask, don’t tell” and recently the cat has gotten out of the bag and the public is in an out cry.
Massive amounts of people are already saying that they are boycotting future Apple products until the issue is resolved and that they are returning any Apple products that they can as part of their protest again child labor laws and recent poisoning incident that transpired.
What is my take on all of this?
Simple. I would be a betting man at $500 that 99.9% of these people that are “boycotting” Apple are most likely using, wearing and DRIVING items that have been a bi-product of child labor.
Just because you buy “organic” or “environmental” friendly, does not mean the people who have passed it along did not play a role in some sort of wrong doing.
Those are what I call, “selling points” to people who think they’re doing something good in life, or people who convince themselves that they feel good by supporting such products.
What I say is, do your research…if you do not want to support companies like Apple and other companies that partake in things like this, do your research, do the math and put your bias culture understanding behind.
It’s unfair to judge an entire company based off of one warehouse, but as they say…”if you knew one chicken nugget could make you sick out of the 10,000 that are there, would you still eat a few?” most likely you’ll answer, no.
But the odds of you being effected by that product are slim to none and to boycott a growing and great company such as Apple because they are reaching beyond what “YOU” think is right or wrong, is inappropriate.
If you want change, go out and make a difference!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to get back to playing Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning!!!!
