I've been wondering what other people plan to do with their collection once they get older. Not necessarily dying, but that's another thing I was thinking of. What do you plan to do with your collection once you either stop collecting or your health starts declining? I think I'd give mine away to a fellow collector, but sell the games that either aren't super rare or I never really enjoyed. It's an interesting topic because video games haven't been around that long.

I've been having these weird thoughts lately. Like is any of this for real or not?

If I were in that position, I'd look to sell off to get as much as I could so I could clear as much of my debts as possible, so I'm not leaving those to my family. What's left after the debts would go to my family, obviously. Hard to say, though, until you're in that position, but I imagine that's what I would do.

I don't see myself ever selling my collection, unless I go blind or something. It's a lifelong hobby and passion for me. I've been gaming since I was 5, I'm 29 years old now and don't see myself slowing down any time soon.

When I die, I want my collection passed on to a family member or friend who would appreciate it. If such a person is no longer around, then I'd donate it to needy children or somewhere where it would actually get enjoyed and not just used for money.

DO NOT DO IT !!!!

I am speaking from experience here. Back in 2004 when I was a student I had built a huge game collection NES,Snes, Mega Drive, Saturn,Dreamcast, N64, Playstation you name it I had it back then.

Then I git my Xbox modded and got emulators for pretty much every console under the sun. Since I was at University at the time I did not have a ton of cash so I decided that I should sell my collection as I had all the games on my modded Xbox anyway.

This is a decision over the years that I have really regretted. It was really convienent having all those games on my Xbox and they look better on a HD TV when played through the Xbox than the actual console, but its just not the same as playing the games on the actual console they were designed for.

I have been slowly building my collection back up the last few years and stuff now costs way more than it did in the late 90's early 00's. So yeah anyone of out there thinking off selling there collection you really need to think long and hard about it. I would much rather pass on my collection to my kids now that get a few bucks for it.
