Would you like to have a copy of Stadium Events for the NES? Or perhaps a copy of the Nintendo Championship cart? I’ll take either the gray or gold please! Well Capcom recently released a very limited number of gold DuckTales NES cartridges. They’re packed in a very cool tin case, a certificate of authenticity, an old school advertisement from Capcom promoting their other classic games like Mega Man and a Duckburg themed coupon. This could be next on the “holy grail” NES items. Thanks to my longtime friend Kolby Kirk for letting me know about this.
Capcom has only made 150 of these bad boys, and EGMnow.com (Electronic Gaming Monthy) was fortunate to receive a copy. It’s unknown if this game is playable on the NES system, or is simply for show. Either way you can bet that with the limited number available, the value of this collector’s item may cost as much as Scrooge McDuck’s entire fortune in the future.
This isn’t the first time Capcom has released old school themed items to promote their games. For Mega Man 9 for example, Capcom also released a limited edition NES version of the game in box, and with a NES cart case which had a CD of the game inside.
DuckTales: Remastered comes out in North America on PSN, Nintendo eShop and Steam on August 13th, 2013. It will be available on XBLA on September 11th, 2013. Capcom is also releasing a physical retail copy on August 20th for the PS3, and that will also include a code to download the title and a DuckTales collector pin.
