What Are Your Top 5 Consoles?

My Top 5 Consoles:

1. NES - The system that made me fall in love with gaming. We did have an Atari 2600 before it that was my older sister's, but it never held my attention for long. The NES, though, with it's awesome sound and music, great graphics (compared to Atari 2600, that is), large explorable worlds, and game with a story and ending; was like digital crack for me. I couldn't get enough. And my mom was awesome enough to get me Legend of Zelda, TMNT, Star Soldier, and Pin-Bot as my first games (along with Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt cart that came with the NES, of course).

2. PS1 - I picked this system because it was the first system I played fully 3-D games on (other than a few here and there like Star Fox and Wolfenstein 3-D on SNES). At first I had to get used to the controls and camera while playing these game, but once I got past that learning curve I had a blast. And the PS1's game library is just amazing. Developers back then were really experimenting with different things which created a vastly varied library of games on the PS1.

3. SNES - I love the SNES because it took everything awesome about the NES and made it all better: Better graphics, better sound, bigger games, a better controller, and more reliable hardware (no more annoying screen-blinkies!). And it had a helluva game library.

4. Sega Genesis - I love the 16-bit era, and while I liked my SNES better, the Sega Genesis isn't far behind. This was when Sega was at it's peak, IMO, giving us a plethora of great first-party titles. Plus Sega had a lot of lesser-known third-party developers releasing games on the Genesis. Some were stinkers, but many of them were hidden gems and made the Genesis game library unique.

5. GBA - Preferably the awesome backlit SP model. This handheld is easily the best handheld of all-time, IMO. Great original games, ports of some of the best NES and SNES games, and it's backwards compatible with original Game Boy and GB Color games. Plus that sweet backlit screen really made those old Game Boy titles look a whole lot better.

1. PC-Engine Duo RX
2. Super Famicom
3. Turbo Twin Famicom
4. Genesis with 32x add-on
5. Colecovision with Expansion Module 1

I'm more old school, what can I say. I lean to the Japanese consoles mostly simply because of the design and huge game libraries. However, the Famicom blows the NES out of the water for me due to the disk system. I do love modern gaming as well though. I just can't put PS3 on a top 5 no matter how hard I try.

1. Saturn (model 1) - It had some of the best controllers ever made, along with quite a few of my favorite games.
2. NES - I liked how it smelled when I first opened it.
3. Genesis (model 1) - I also really liked the smell of this one.
4. TurboGrafx 16 - This was a badass machine, though I didn't like how it needed an adapter in order to play two-player.
5. SNES - Lots of good memories playing SFII on this, and it had some really nice controllers... though I guess I'd rather have a Super Famicom because it's better looking.

1. PS2 - So many great games, across so many genres!
2. Atari 2600 - It hasn't aged well, but it started my video game obsession
3. Dreamcast - The best console Sega created. Still plays great today
4. Xbox 360 - So many great games
5. iPad - I'm including this, even though it's not technically a "console" but in many ways it plays like one. So many interesting and creative indie games. This is where innovation is happening right now!

1) playstation
2) SNES
3) Nintendo 64
3) Playstation 2
4) GameCube
5) GBA SP

I had the hardest time choosing between the SNES, N64 and PS2 for the number 2 spot but I'm pretty set on the way I listed the consoles. Ask me again in an hour or two and my list will likely be different, though.
